Hi, I’m John – your friendly American English tutor!

Originally from Alaska, USA and now living in Japan, I specialize in helping students from around the world build confidence in their English speaking skills through relaxed, natural conversation. My lessons are informal, flexible, and focused on real-world communication—not grammar drills or memorized scripts.

Outside the classroom, I’m an avid outdoorsman. You’ll often find me riding my fat tire bike, hiking mountain trails, casting a fishing line, or enjoying peaceful beach walks. I love sharing stories about from the wild and weaving outdoor adventures into our conversations—so there's always something interesting to talk about!

I’ve lived in nearly every U.S. state, driven across Canada eighteen times, and was born in beautiful Hawaii. With a rich background of travel and life experience, I bring a unique cultural perspective to every lesson.
